Competition Announcement: Your Story on the Rails

Have finals been running you ragged? Were you caught up in graduation ceremonies this weekend? Great news: We’ve extended the Your Story on the Rails deadline. Submit your 30-second video before midnight ET this Wednesday, May 24.
Are you an American student, 18 or older who will be studying abroad in Europe during summer 2017?
Are you currently enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program and studying a language other than English?
If so, it’s time to take your story on the rails!
For a chance to win a 1st Class Global Eurail Pass for 15 days of travel and to become a Lead with Languages “Your Story on the Rails” blogger, just tell us in a 30-second video about your language and study abroad plans for this summer and why you should be a Lead with Languages blogger. Five winners will be selected by a panel of study abroad alumni, and their blog posts, photos, and videos will be featured on Lead with Languages’ blog throughout the summer of 2017. Entries will be judged based on originality, storytelling, and the ability to effectively articulate the importance of languages to the applicant’s study abroad plans.

- Current school and anticipated graduation date
- Summer study abroad program name and countries to be visited
- Language you are studying

The deadline to submit an application is May 22, 2017. Winners will be announced on or by June 6, 2017. Eurail travel must be completed by August 31, 2017. One entry per student. Birth date, nationality, proof of enrollment in academic program and summer abroad program will be verified before awards are granted.
Each of the five winners must agree to submit the following blogger materials during their travels:
- At least 3-5 blog posts about the countries they visit discussing their experiences traveling, learning about countries and cultures, and meeting native speakers of the language they are studying.
- 5 photos from various locations.
- At least 2 videos during travel.
- Themes addressed by blogger should include travel experience by train, including some aspect of footage from train windows, stations, etc., in the materials.
Prize is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted. Sponsor and partner(s) and their representatives are not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of this contest, including, but not limited to, errors in any printing or posting of these Official Rules, the selection and announcement of any winner, or the distribution of any prize. Sponsor and partner(s) reserve the right to terminate, suspend or amend the contest, without notice, and for any reason, including, without limitation, if Sponsor and partners(s) determine that the contest cannot be conducted as planned or should a technical failure or other cause beyond Sponsor and partner(s)’s control corrupt the administration, security, fairness, or integrity of the contest.
Lead with Languages’ Your Story on the Rails Competition is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older. Employees of the Sponsor and its parent and affiliate organizations and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents, including the Institute of International Education, Inc. (IIE), Eurail Group GIE, and their immediate family (spouse, parent, sibling or child and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and persons living in the same household of such employees, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win.
INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By entering the contest, each entrant agrees to indemnify, release and hold harmless Sponsor and the Institute of International Education (IIE) and their respective parent and affiliate organizations and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents, from any liability, damages, losses or injury resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from that entrant’s participation in the contest and the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize that may be won. Sponsor and IIE and their respective parent, affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from access to or the download of information or materials connected with the contest.
By participating, each entrant grants permission to use their name, likeness, image, voice and/or appearance as may be embodied in any pictures, photos, video/audio recordings, digital images, and the like, taken or made in conjunction with this contest. Entrant agrees that Sponsor has complete ownership of such pictures, videos, etc., including the entire copyright, and may use them for any purpose consistent with the mission of Sponsor. These uses include, but are not limited to print, online and video-based marketing materials. Entrant represents and warrants that the use of Entrant’s video or otherwise digitally recorded image, film, voice, or photograph as contemplated by this competition will not violate the rights of any third party, including but not limited to any other individual(s) who appear in the video created by Entrant. Entrant that his or her participation is voluntary and that he or she will not receive any compensation for the use of such pictures, videos, etc., and hereby release Sponsor and its parent and affiliate organizations and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents, including the Institute of International Education (IIE) and Eurail Group GIE, from any and all claims that arise out of or are in any way connected with such use.
